Motorcycle Helmet Compliance
There have been a lot of changes in Australia in relation to motorcycle helmet compliance in the last few years, which can cause a bit of confusion.
Here’s our try at making this as clear as possible:
If you ride or are a passenger on, a motorcycle or quad bike in Queensland you must wear a compliant motorcycle helmet.
This compliance must be in line with Australian standards AS1698 or AS/NZS1698, or United Nations Economic Commission for Europe standard (UN ECE 22.05).
Helmets must have a stitched label on the inside of the helmet or a sticker on the outside of the helmet, indicating compliance with the approved standards above. A motorcycle helmet that complies with UNECE22.05 must carry the UNECE ‘E’ approval mark, with a number which represents the country in which the testing and certification were approved.
