How to code your replacement Piaggio Vespa Key

Losing the key to your scooter can be really annoying!  But spare keys blanks are available, and if you have a coded key, as many Piaggio Vespa models are these days, you will need to do some voodoo to get your new spare key to talk to your scooter.

IMPORTANT:  The Brown Key for your scooter is the “KEY” in all of this, treat your Brown Key nicely, and store it somewhere safe.

Give us a ring on 07 54555249, shoot us an email by clicking here or drop in and see us so we can identify the correct key blank for your scooter.

Then we can provide you one to take to your locksmith to cut to match your Brown Key,

Once the key is cut, you can either come back in (with the newly cut Blue Key, your Brown Key, and your Scooter) and see us, and we will code the key to your scooter with the magic system below.

Or you can do it yourself by following these steps:

  1. Place the Brown Key into the ignition of your scooter;
  2. Turn the scooter on and then off (within 3 seconds);
  3. Remove the Brown Key from the ignition;
  4. Place the newly cut Blue Key into the ignition;
  5. Turn the scooter on and then off (within 3 seconds);
  6. Remove the Blue Key from the ignition;
  7. You can repeat this for any additional Blue Keys you wish to code;
  8. Finish the programming by inserting the Brown Key into the ignition;
  9. Turn it on and then off (within 3 seconds).
  10. Check that your newly cut and coded Blue Key works to start your scooter if it does not, repeat the steps (it can be hard to judge 3 seconds!)

And there you have it!
