The next NATIONAL SCOOTER RALLY will be held in PORT MACQUARIE over the AUSTRALIA DAY LONG WEEKEND JANUARY 25-26-27th 2008.

Check out the flyer at

http://australianscooterist.com/national%20flyer2008-2.pdf

We are thinking of making a bit of an event of this - if anyone is interested in coming down to Port Macquarie for a weekend of scootering, drop into Scooter Style and let Scott know.

We're leaving it up untill the last minute to decide on where we're going.
If it's gonna be wet stinky weather down there then we may trailer the scoots over to Adeliade for some touring & visiting the rellies.
Got a babysitter for the pets.

Rob

Closely watching the weather http://www.weatherzone.com.au/nsw/mid-north-coast/port-macquarie
Had bucket loads of rain here, & so we're looking for a bit of a break from that....looks not too bad so far there.

We did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rode from Noosa to Port Macquarie (stopped off in Brisbane to pick up Joe from Scootopia and Teresa on the Friday night).

Scott and I took a 250cc Bolwell Firenze each (him silver, me black), Joe rode a 500cc Gilera Fuoco and Teresa on a 250cc Piaggo MP3.

Contended with torrential rain on the Gold Coast, dirt roads on the way back (thanks to GPS - that is Scott's new nickname - I also considered calling him Harry <for "In the Wild with Harry Butler">) and a 15.5 hour trip back.

I had never previously done the following:

- Highway riding
- Riding in rain
- Riding at night
- Riding on dirt (120 km's dodging 4WD's coming the other way, cows, cow shit, falling rocks, slip zones, potholes and corrugations - luckily the logging trucks had a day off)
- Riding in Brisbane City at night (Noosa only has two lane roads and 2 sets of traffic lights - slightly different to Brisbane city)
- Riding longer than 10 minutes
- Riding down Cunninghams Gap

And now I have done them all.

Scott says I have got the Merit Badge for scootering.

I am no longer afraid of anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Photos to come!

Great to see Rob, Shel and Dallas (who rode his Vespa PX200 all the way there and back - no backup group - what a brave <crazy> man) there.

Got there late Saturday and off to the Dinner. Big representation from the Canetoads SC of Brisbane (hi to Laura!) and great music by the DJ - whose name I failed to get. But he rides a red and cream Lambretta and provided all the music and was just great. Heaps of food and dancing.

Had a good ride out to Timbertown on Sunday with a group organised by Sandra and Scott, Joe and Teresa got to ride a Penny Farthing bicycle. Video will be forthcoming!

A good weekend was had by all and I discovered a lot of abilities I did not know I had.

The proposed venue for next year is Tasmania!

Congrats on your epic journey. It certainly did bucket down for you....I can vouch for that.

What were the fuel consumption figures? Any tyre wear?

I've got some pics to post, too. When poss. Got a bit of a stomach bug atm.
Me Foulcan wagon got a bit crook on the way back.
Shel's Bandit cutout on her while we rode about along the coast there. Have to have a chat with Scott about that.

Bloody GPS.......that's a classic! ....nearly as good as Google Maps.

Out the front of the shop before heading off on Friday

Out the front of the motel at Port Macquarie - note the scooters are lovely and clean due to the torrential rain we rode through!
